Workshops

As we come to the end of our second month in classrooms facilitating different types of workshops I am pleased to share how its gone and what we have learned. Most of our in class field trips so far have been in elementary grades from K-7. The feedback we have gotten has been overwhelmingly positive from teachers.

  • “I found the workshop to be very well organized, engaging and supported what we were already learning in the classroom around diversity and inclusion. It also allowed students to demonstrate their creative thinking skills and share their ideas. After the workshop we had a very big discussion about the importance of diversity and what it would be like if we all acted, spoke, looked, and thought the same - students could easily see and connect with how having diverse Lego pieces helped them create beautiful creations - just as having diversity in our world and community is not only needed, but also beautiful”

  • “The workshop was fantastic and tied in very well with our cross-curricular unit on Diversity.

I saw 100% engagement from even my reluctant learners. Thank you for bringing the messages of the importance of diversity and inclusion through Lego.”

  • “Our students had a fantastic time. They were engaged and productive. I had no idea we had so many keen creators in our class. I loved that they were so excited to see the final reveal. Many commented on how that was the best part of the activity.”

Many Teachers have commented that these workshops tend to be the most engaging as all the students are involved and many have pointed out with surprise the more reluctant ones that seem to thrive and feel more included.

The most requested workshop so far has been the Forces & Motion . Especially for Kindergarten and Grade 1. In this session, each student gets to create a vehicle of their own design to be used to test different forces such as pushes, pulls, and gravity. Each vehicle becomes an experiment where they get to deploy it on differnt obsticle cources and ramps to demonstrate the different effects of force. This course is a great way to incorporate the core competencies of crticial, creative, and reflective thinking. As the students discover what works and what doesn’t, they modify their creations into better models to complete the objectives.

Boat loads of imagination in use as part of the story telling workshop.

For grades 2-4, our science based workshops and story telling have been very well recieved. Some of the Science based workshops that fit with the curriculum like Biodiversity is a great way for students to express their creativity as they build animals and species found within certain biological environments. Story Telling has been another hit and is very versatile. This workshop can be done in teams or individually. One of the recent classes we did was designed to allow the students to physically create a unique setting for which they will be creating their very own story. Pictures were taken and will be used as reference as the imagination of the students uses these as a base for a story they will create as the unit progresses.

For grades 5-7 based on feedback so far, I would highly reccommend the Diversity and Science themed workshops. The Diversity workshop has been really well recieved and is a safe way to introduce what can be a difficult concept to convey. Although Science can be a very broad topic, each teacher can decide what areas to focus or include and what works best for their current units. The flexibility of these Lego workshops to adapt and fit into different curriculum, grade level, and topics is one of the best features as it allows for multiple classes to be facilitated in a single day which brings the average cost down.

Speaking of costs, our 2024 pricing is now available. Due to the demand for multiple day and even full week and full school request, we have created new package pricing for multi day requests which offer the best pricing averages and discounts. Regular pricing starts at $10-$15 per student for single classes and can be as low as $5-$9 per student for some of our larger volume packages.

We are now accepting bookings for 2024. Reach out today to reserve your time slots!
