Force & Motion
This workshop is our most popular for Kindergarten to grade 2. Each student gets to create their own vehicle to be used as a test subject to learn the effects of pushes and pulls on some custom Lego made obstacle courses. Add in a couple of ramps and students can test the pull effects of gravity. This workshop is great for practicing the core competencies of critical & reflective thinking as they modify their creations to successfully operate on each course.
Workshop info: Force & Motion
Recommended Grades K-2 Type: Individual
Duration - 70-90 minutes
Content: For this workshop each student receives their own kit and instructions to build their own test vehicle. Once each student has a vehicle ready to use, we demonstrate the different test stations and obstacles set up around the room. Each station features different forces such as push, pull, gravity, friction, centrifigal force and more.
The purpose of this workshop is to not only learn how each force effects the test vehicle but to encourage problem solving as they rebuild and modify their vehicle to successfully pass all of the challenges.
As part of our S.T.E.M. programs for younger minds, this workshop can be facilitated for additional grade levels to learn about different forces, reactions, and effects all while learning through play
